I've tried attaching water bottles to my waist belt but found the splashing uncomfortable. The hydropacks were slightly better but more suited to hiking than running. The Osprey 1.5 had all the features I loved: open pockets for a protein bar, an attached whistle big enough for a water bottle, zippered pockets for keys or a phone, and most importantly, a magnetic bite stop for tucking in close by so you don't have to struggle . The most important lesson is to fill the reservoir and then remove as much air as possible to reduce sloshing while running. Now I can run, sip when needed, and close the bite valve without stopping or slowing down. The Osprey 1.5 has enabled me to go from a few miles to 10+ miles per run because I no longer have to carry water bottles or money to buy water.
