Easily ride just over 20 miles around Yosemite in them. New, unpacked, only worn once, no damage. You did great. Super light, very handy, quite flexible and breathable. A minor annoyance is that when walking on dry mud/sand some of it can get through the mesh. So be sure to wear the right socks. Now the size of these socks is too big. I usually wear 10.5 in sneakers (Salomon, Merrell, Ecco). Tried 10.5 - couldn't even get my foot in, 11 - normal length but still too narrow in the midfoot. Finally size 11.5 and they are perfect. A bit long but with a heel lock they work great on descents. In general I am very happy with them. Much more comfortable than my old Salomons. Let's see how they wear.
