Serious tool, could be more portable. I am a runner and I run in areas where there are mountain lions, packs of large coyotes the size of large German shepherds that would happily eat my little dog that runs with me. I've personally dealt with lions a number of times and let me tell you, you want something better than a defense knife! In fact, a gun would be perfect! This tomahawk is near perfect but could use some definite upgrades. First, it's still too heavy. Unless you're young and in good shape, wielding this thing quickly becomes tiring, especially in any combat situation. Next, the Kydex sheath is a good place to start, but the included straps are primitive and awkward. I found some old laptop straps that worked much better and fit around your neck. The idea is to have them on hand and hide them from the many people sharing the path, who will no doubt feel threatened at the mere sight of that wild stare. weapons and will probably cause me problems in the long run. So drop the weight closer to a pound and make the sheath quicker detachable, if possible, no harness for prolonged wear. Otherwise I haven't seen any THawk that can compete in quality in this price range.
