These fabric crayons are amazing, they really last many, many washes. Colored pencils are very similar to oil pastels, very soft and fluffy. Stretch materials like t-shirts require a special attachment technique that may be difficult for a small child. They work great on solid materials like canvas, blend easily and the colors are so vibrant. Heat setting is simple and easy and MUST BE DONE for the product to be PERMANENT. The photos of the shirts I took have been washed over 20 times on a warm cycle. I did one on a gray shirt and was impressed
