As it turns out, I don't think it's as secure on some vehicles as the bottom latch isn't attached as securely, even on vehicles that are on the 'compatible' list. I think if you tinker a little you can make it safer. I plan to use some of the ratchet straps to tighten the post to the bar. This is my only serious complaint. I believe this can easily be remedied by adding extra straps to the tire. Another minor complaint is the buckle mechanism that ties your bike to the rack mounts. I would like to see a mechanism other than the strap and buckle. I don't see it as easy with bike paint. However, there's nothing a piece of soft cloth can't fix. The price is spot on and you might get what you paid for. I'd rather crack a rack than pay hundreds for other brands of bike mounts. ** Re-edit a month or two after use. 1. This product is dangerous in my opinion because it is for sale. Remove another star. The belt locking mechanism, the method by which the belt is attached to the hook, appears solid but will "creep" and give way until it eventually breaks. Do not use the straps provided.
