Review on πŸ‘ž Bogs Boys' Classic Waterproof Insulated Neoprene Shoes and Boots by Will Schimmel

Alaskan Kids are here: great boots! +Durability +Warmth +Easy to put on and take off

Our favorite boots here in Alaska. I usually wear these boots for my 10 and 11 year old boys for two years. We've had over 6 pairs of boots and I've found their limitations are that the soles wear out and get slippery and they have a scuff on the heels (to be honest we just step on our backs, take our foot out and dress). actually do not stretch out with your hands and do not remove). They can be pressed tightly to the calves, and pulling with the hands has resulted in flying boots and subsequently a fight between brothers and sisters. The insoles often wear out quickly. The size is almost right. I always go 1/2 to 1 size up. They loosen up a little, but not much. The pattern is short-lived - socks and sides are erased. They usually stay warm down to -30; as with every boot, it depends on the socks. I got cold feet in these boots after working outside in temperatures below -10 for more than 15 minutes, but they were ordinary sports socks. Alaskans are skeptical about thermal performance, but these are really good boots for our winters. I'm sticking with this brand as I love their durability, warmth and ease of use. Imagine if a heavier child might have difficulty with this. UPDATE years later: these guys still wear them (voluntarily) and I still trudge to work in my barn. I myself have two pairs with whimsical patterns that get compliments from everyone (even men!). However, swamps become less watertight as they age. But I'm talking about age. For example 6 years or more. Holes appear in the neoprene and the seams come undone; I suppose that was to be expected. Also, despite what Boggs says about antimicrobials, they can and do give off a strong stench after about a year. I've found that if you fill a whole boot with water in a bath with some real antibacterial detergent and let it sit for an hour or so and then dry it completely, they'll keep it perfectly fresh for another 6 months or so. I also tossed them in the washing machine with some towels to freshen them up and they looked amazing. Completely dry and they're back in business. I remain a regular customer.
