My natural lashes are ridiculously short and sparse. I wore thick mascara for so many years, I was simply disgusted with it. I was tired of seeing that my mascara leaked down my eye all day without knowing. I was tired of scratching my eye and ending up with a black eye and hand because I forgot about my mascara. I was sick of having to wash my eye 10 times and scratching my lashes to get the thick mascara off…only to then have black remnants of mascara IN my eyes. And the worst part was that my lashes looked thicker but not great. I thought there HAD to be a better way.I went online and looked up alternatives for people like me who are eyelash challenged. I had tried the old lash strips that never stay on, so I knew those were not what I was looking for. I wanted something that I would be confident would not blow off in the wind or fall off somewhere. I found lash salons that charge hundreds for a full set of eyelash extensions. Seemed high but potentially worth it. I searched for DIY options and looked for ways to do it myself. False lashes were the obvious choice. Ardell Double Up Individual lashes were awesome looking and the price was great. I tried all of them - brown, black, knotted, no knots, long, medium and short. I narrowed it down to my favorite - black, knot free, medium individuals and I use the clear permanent glue. I LOVE the fact that these lashes are permanent…you are basically super-gluing them to your lashes. I can put on a full set, which is 7-9 per eye (I only do my top lids/lashes) in 30 minutes. They will look perfect for 4-7 days, sometimes longer. I am careful how I sleep, wash my face, etc. so my lashes last as long as possible. At some point, they will start to look wanky, they lay funny (which looks bad), or they fall off. Sometimes they look so bad that I take the bad one(s) off and replace them. If 1 or 2 of the lashes need replacing, it’s simple to just add 1 or 2 back in. I can typically go weeks without having to touch my lashes. A new full set can last me a month! It’s incredibly inexpensive, at maybe $2 worth of lashes, for the time they last.Why I love these lashes:- My face looks better!- Even without makeup, my eyes look like I have some makeup on- I look finished, even without any makeup- I can be at the beach or pool, in the sun, playing sports, etc. and they stay on!- My lashes are a 10 when I put these on!- You cannot tell that they aren’t real- They are easy to attach.Helpful hint:In the case that you want to remove these lashes, I’m happy to share my secret so you don’t yank them (pulling out your own lashes) or waste time trying to get them off. The best thing I have found is Vaseline! I will coat my pointer and thumb in vaseline and gently massage it into the glued area of my lashes. Within minutes, they start coming free. Steam is also ok but not nearly as effective.A few additional tips - my lashes fall off most often if I am out in the hot sun, sweating a lot, like when I’m playing hours of tennis in the summer. You’d certainly expect they might fall off under those conditions. And also, if I spray warm or hot water on my face, they may get loose. I take great care never to spray my face, wash my eyes when I wash my face (I use cold cream but never on the lashes) or let water spray on or drip down my eyes in the shower. I know it seems like an annoyance but trust me, to have perfect lashes, these are small prices to pay. Once in awhile, I take them off after a month or more because they get wonky and , inevitably, I hate the way I look without them.I highly recommend these lashes, they are a MUST have!
