I recently moved in, there was no room for plastic hangers at the last minute and I have found that plastic hangers are not recyclable. After moving in, I looked at eco-friendly hangers. I've found bamboo to be a good option. However, I searched several local stores and couldn't find any. Then I found and ordered these bamboo hangers from Neaties. The price of these hangers was higher than I would like, but again, I wanted bamboo hangers and they were hard to find. I paid $49.99 for 24 hangers which is about $2.08 per hanger. In comparison, a plastic hanger can often be purchased for around $0.25 per hanger. But my reasoning was this: $2.08 isn't that bad for the amount of lumber it takes for a coat hanger. After all, mass-produced plastic is cheaper to produce, so everywhere. Bamboo hangers are harder to find and I have not been able to find cheaper bamboo hangers anywhere else. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they look just as pretty as the picture, if not more so. They seem sturdy enough, but I wouldn't recommend handling them roughly (kids throw them around, store them randomly in boxes, leave them on the floor where they can be stepped on, or whatever). Because unlike plastic hangers, they are not made of a single piece of plastic: the base bar is attached to the sides. However, I expect these hangers will last a long time with normal use. They were sent to me in a neatly packed, padded box and all 24 hangers arrived safely.
