I had potato salad in a medium sized bowl in my fridge for several hours. Then I took it out, put it in a brown paper bag and put it in the car for a short ride, wrapping it in a blanket so it wouldn't bounce. When I got to my destination about 15 minutes later, I carried it inside and placed it on a wooden kitchen counter. After about 10 minutes when I removed the lid the bowl fell apart into many pieces. I was shocked to say the least! The bowl had no noticeable problems when I put lettuce in it, and it didn't bump, fall, or be exposed to temperature extremes (my car didn't overheat - we live in VT - and the air conditioning was on but not blowing directly on the bowl) or otherwise unaffected, so there is no obvious explanation. Now I'm having a hard time trusting the rest of the bowls.
