Review on Nothing Else Against The Grain by Kristi Green

I have fed all varieties

I have a small dog with congestive heart failure; It is important that I feed as little salt as possible. That's why I chose Against The Grain. I would say with the exception of beef, every variety is worth the money. These little dogs, like many "sensitive" dogs that appear finicky, are canaries in the mine, so to speak. If you've ever raised livestock, you know that you feed them the product you get from that livestock. Feed chickens crappy soy food, dogs are bound to get in trouble. Or, even worse, too much guts from grain-fed cows produces a fatty product that doesn't provide the dense, quality nutrition dogs need. I would feed it raw, unfortunately my dog cannot eat meat without gastritis. This product has become the gold standard for raw meat substitutes with no additives. I cannot recommend the taste of beef at this point. Pork is very dense with a frozen broth. Turkey/Duck/Chicken as well as Salmon have a good broth. I pour the open jar into an airtight container so I can pierce it with a fork and evenly distribute the meat in the broth. For pork, I add a little water to fluff it up. As soon as all varieties go into the fridge, they will set. You can heat a small amount in a water bath, steamer, with a little warm water or in the microwave and it will loosen up again. It's a topper, not a food by any means, which is why I add it in addition to sodium-restricted grain-free foods; Groundbait 60/40 for stuffing, leave to macerate for 30 minutes before feeding. For those of you with picky eaters who want vets on prescription diets, this would be something to discuss with your trusted DVM. If you need to buy Entyce or Capromorelin to improve your dog's appetite, this product is a good place to start to get him back on track to eating regularly and getting rid of the $70 meds. And if you've ever been told to "only feed baby food," this is by far the best option for meeting your dog's nutritional needs.
