Good at first. This mic has a certain gravity and feels very solid, like cast zinc. It's also quite large, see attached photo for size comparison with a standard coke can. The sound quality is very good and meets the needs of a youtuber or streamer. The bit depth and sample rate are better than the Blue Yeti, although you might not notice the difference when tuning. The base is solid and massive, with enough friction to keep the mic in place. Latency monitoring is as advertised and can be disabled if desired. Connecting to Windows via USB is literally plug and play, no drivers required. Get a decent pop filter and you're done. Now for the bad. The controls are a bit shaky. The mute button has a dull feel and lacks a satisfying click, and the front panel potentiometer knobs have a lot more travel than you might think. The switches have a very pleasant click, although you can press them surprisingly hard. However, considering it's only $150 and I usually work with industrial tools, this is probably a nitpick. If you don't abuse it, I expect this mic to last a long time. Also, Samson doesn't appear to be offering a shock mount for this model. Samson expressly points out that the Samson SP04 does NOT work with the G-Track Pro, only with the basic model. It doesn't make sense to me if you call it a "Pro" model then it should be able to use the same shock mount as the base model. Finding the right third-party mount is like hunting Bigfoot. The customer service rep I spoke to explained that some came packaged without a mic stand adapter for some retailers. I won't blame him because it's clearly beyond his powers and sometimes I have no idea what the managers in my job were thinking. They mail the missing part for free anyway, so I'm adding a star for good customer service. 4/5 and would be 5/5 if I could get a shock. For what you get in the box (assuming it's all there, of course) it's fantastic value for money. Don't get hung up on the controls and you'll be fine with this mic.
