Review on 🔌 Proxxon Thermocut 37080 Wire Cutter by Cedric Ford

I was looking for a foam desk comparable to the industrial model available at my university. While not close, this is the best foam cutting table I've found online without having to build your own hot wire cutting rig. I bought this as a tool for cutting Foamula (polystyrene) foam 2 inches thick. I've been able to make hundreds of cuts in thick material with minimal problems. I have finished the project but there is still some wire left on the spool. Complaints: The wire breaks very randomly. Sometimes I could make 50-100 cuts and it didn't break, sometimes it broke on the first few cuts. No matter how fast/slow I drove. I also played around with different heats and wire tensions, but in the end I couldn't figure out what was causing it. The included tilt sensor is ridiculous. The handle does not hold the fence at the desired angle with any type of large foam. So I suggest making your own jig for the job you are cutting, which brings me to my final point: aluminum tables scratch easily so keep that in mind when using a homemade jig/rail. a great hobby table and suitable for industrial applications.
