I ignored all the software/one touch backup features this thing came with. yes it is cheap But it works wonderfully. I wanted something that could handle both IDE and SATA drives (since I play on older machines too) and that ticked the box. For the price you absolutely can't do better. Even the IDE performs a quasi-hot swap if you flip the switch and first turn off the dock, plug in the drive, and then turn on the power. No drivers are needed and it works on both Linux and Windows. I don't know where the bad reviews are coming from, this thing works great for me. The software it advises you to use is totally unnecessary (I completely ignored the instructions), and drives attached to it are treated as normal media by the system.
