Review on ๐Ÿฏ Honeywell Solenoid Valve for Humidifier Model 50027997-001 by Corey Katchem

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install Best in Parts & Accessories

Humidifier red light blinked 6 times and water flowed continuously so it's time for a new solenoid valve. Don't be intimidated by this renovation. I'm no jack of all trades, but this solenoid valve was very easy to install. Drain the unit, unplug the humidifier, turn off the water, disconnect the water supply and drain hoses, remove the (empty) water tank, then detach the unit from the mounting bracket (see below). Unscrew one screw to remove the cover. Disconnect the electromagnetic clip on the connector from the circuit board. Use a screwdriver to loosen the four clips holding the back panel. This will expose the valve; Release the remaining water hose. You can then slide the solenoid valve out of the frame. Turn everything over to insert a new one. The instructions I just typed are so long that they make the repair seem more difficult than it actually is: as I said, I'm not a do-it-yourselfer, but it didn't take 15 minutes - and I did it very deliberately. The hardest part for me. remove the device from the mount. It took me a while to discover that the bracket has a protruding piece of metal that acts as a lock to prevent accidental removal of the device. This piece of metal can be clearly seen in Honeywell's YouTube video of installing the device, but the video never mentions its function. If you look at the bracket, it's on the left. It's a good idea to watch this video before replacing the solenoid and you'll probably find it easier to remove the block from its bracket and reinstall it.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
