Review on Ferroday 2 Roller Crusher Stainless Steel Malt Mill - Homebrew Grain Crusher with Adjustable Gap - Low Speed Drill Compatible by April Schol

Good and bad after assembly

The box arrived and was smaller than expected. The mill was the expected size, but the bunker seemed small. E needs to see if he can hold the initial 7lbs. Added a photo of a typical beer glass for reference for home brewers. I like the idea of the blue protective cover, but it was difficult to remove and required disassembling the grinder. I would still have to do it since it was backwards for a typical hand crank. No real problem. Easy enough to complete. The company logo ends up on the back of the car, but that's their loss. Even before using it I see complaints that some have mentioned the grain passing the mill. There are large triangular gaps at the four corners near the rollers for the grain to slide through without being crushed as shown in my photos. I closed them with metal tape. Everything seems smooth and even. Sufficiently durable material. The distance adjustment is easy. The wheels feel very strong and heavy. Real bearings instead of bushings. There are no assembly instructions and the diagrams don't exactly match the orientation of the grinder, which is confusing for some. I found the assembly easy and reasonable and took a few looks at the instructions for guidance. Some have mentioned that they didn't receive any mounting screws. Mine came with two mounting screws that got lost in the box. I will come back to the evaluation after actual use.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
