Review on πŸ’» Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Adapter (Mini DP to DP) - Black, 4K & Thunderbolt 2 Compatible by Gabriel Elliott

No video with Dell Latitude 3530 laptop on Dell U2713HM monitor but works with Dell Precision 7350

Initially I tried this as an adapter using a regular DP to DP cable to a mini DP to make DP cable. I knew the cable I used it with would work because I use it with another Dell laptop and docking station that has full-size DisplayPort connectors. I already had a mini DP to DP cable (also from Cable Matters) that also works with this Dell Latitude 3530 laptop and Dell U2713HM monitor (2560 x 1440 @ 60Hz), but it's very difficult , plug and unplug the cable. from the back of the monitor. I was hoping to end up using this adapter which is easy to get to. It just didn't work. The Dell Latitude 3530 recognizes that a second monitor has been connected and shows this in the Display Settings window, but I couldn't find any settings that would actually display video. Today I reverted to the old Cable Matters Mini-DP-DP cable, but as always, it hurt to disconnect when I wanted to switch back. Very disappointed as I have had other Cable Matters cables and adapters and had no problems before. I recently used this cable with a Dell Precision 7350 laptop as part of a Franken Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort, DisplayPort to (active) Dual Link DVI and DVI to Dell U2713HM monitor cable (2560 x 1440, 60 Hz). It works out. It is clear that the cable is not bad, but I have had problems with the Dell 3530 and this adapter in particular. I have no idea why, but I haven't seen this with any other mini-DP-DP cable. I tend to blame the 3530 more than the cable.
