We've been using our Germ Guardian for a while with no problems. We began looking for a new air purifier after hearing from Germ Guardian about the poor electrical wiring and potential fire hazard. Why did we choose this device? 1. We have 2 cats in the house and my wife is allergic to cat dander so we have to turn on air purifiers all the time. There are several trees near our house that produce a lot of pollen in spring/summer, making it difficult for us to open the windows for fresh air. We have a townhouse with one floor less than 1,000 square feet, which means we don't need a huge air purifier that can cover 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. The selling feature for us was the "Auto Mode," meaning the air purifier uses its sensor to adjust fan speed and intensity based on the air quality in the home. That means we can turn it on and leave it on 24/7. We can track air quality using the Air Quality Index (AQI) through their mobile app. This is a big difference from our previous air purifier as we only turned it on based on how we felt. It's also a very quiet machine as we didn't need to run the fan above speed 3 for the most part. For most of the AC device. and desk fans are much louder indoors. The only small issue we have is that you have to install the filter and lamp with the unit on the side, which is a bit fiddly, but it's not too difficult and the installation guide was pretty clear.
