Clean cutting error: the bottom sheet was torn off and the edges of the paper remained black spots.
I had high hopes for this American made product but ended up having to return it because it never cut the bottom sheet cleanly and always left black marks on the edge of the stack. I've tested all types of paper, varied the number of sheets in the stack, disassembled and reassembled the cutter, adjusted the guides, crossed my fingers and even cursed a bit, but the miserable results persisted.
