Review on πŸ”‹ 12 Survivors SolarFlare Power Bank by Richard Edwar

Works best with solar and wind power

I'm not an electrical engineer but I tested the power output of this solar panel and was surprised to see that it can deliver almost the same power as a wall panel using an Anker charger an Apple Iphone 6 (IOS 11) already charged to 95%. I used PowerJive to test current at 5.13 volts at 0.93 amps. The test time was at 4:00 p.m. on a sunny day in Philadelphia. I get slightly higher amps when I plug it into my Anker wall charger at around 1.20 amps (the amps jump a bit here because I think the wall charger is making adjustments while charging to improve efficiency. The amps of the solar charger remain stable). Considering a sunny day, I suspect this solar charger will charge a dead iPhone 6 in almost the same time as a wall charger. The device is very well designed. It folds in half and is covered in plastic. It has 2 mounting hooks and 2 USB ports. I individually tested the ports that deliver the same performance, but I assumed that if two devices were connected, the performance of each device would be halved, doubling the charge time. Ideal for camping or anywhere without mains power.

Pros
  • Ultra compact and lightweight portable design
