Review on HP W2408 24 Inch Widescreen BrightView: Enhance Your Viewing Experience with Crystal Clear Visuals by Christian Macalma

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Deep color/brightness shift - almost useless

I need a monitor of this size for photo editing and I "upgraded" it from a 20" Dell. I needed a post urgently and it was the only one available. The difference in brightness between the two halves of the screen is at least 30%. This makes sense especially noticeable when the monitor is oriented vertically. It goes from bright white to mid gray and the effect goes out of range. This results in a severe loss of shadow/highlight detail that can only be corrected by shifting the viewing angle backwards and forwards About the screen. Screen. Totally unacceptable and the product was sent back to the manufacturer with a loud complaint. In my opinion the only people giving this monitor 5 stars are probably the same people who saw the converted 480p picture not from true HD You got caught the "smooth" factor SUPPLEMENT: I'm on the NEC 24" MultiS now sync switched. I can now clearly state that this HP W2408 is a consumer scam. If you want a slim, crisp 24-inch display, consistent color calibration and white consistency from virtually every angle, and no trace of screen reflections, you should trash HP.
