Review on Lepai LP 168HA 40 Watt Amplifier Output by Jenny Maestas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Forget 2x40 and 68. Divide by two and it's a good little amp for its purpose.

This little guy does a good job. Forget the 40 watts. It's not there. The same with 68 watts for the subwoofer. Possibly a spike, but otherwise divided by 2. However, once I put aside my frustration with the result and resisted the initial urge to put it back in the box, we became friends. This is not a baffle. But it does an excellent job of amplifying the signal coming from your computer or iPhone. Here's what it does.1. Forget the front AUX input and go straight to the RCA jacks on the back. Sound quality is much richer.2. Use the thinnest gauge you can find in the large box of speaker wire. He doesn't like low numbers.3. Manual in Chinese. Unfortunately, I missed class the day they taught Chinese. But the photos are very beautiful. It's ok, you can do it without instructions.4. A crossover for a sub works for me at least as advertised. As mentioned, the secondary volume is independent of the primary volume. I quickly liked this feature.5. Yes, the dials are small. But so does the amp. If you're good at Braille, you shouldn't have any trouble finding and using it.6. This will make your table appear larger. That's where he belongs. This is a desktop amp which combined with decent speakers makes for a very good desktop system that won't be knocked on the door by the police. But when you turn it on, you have to unscrew it so your wife yells at you to unscrew it. (This is my version of the bench test.) Ignore 2x40 and 68. They're not there. But if you can live with what it is, it scores that five stars. I think the police just arrived too. The same 40 and 68 W that are not? They are there. You just have to find her. (You can get a 12V 5A thing at Revain for only $8. Tape the windows first though. I use the amp at 6. And I have chest pains.)
