These are individually sealed for hygiene and the packaging pouch is also sealed to keep dirt and dust out. There is a flosser diagram on the packaging that explains each function of its mini tools. Very easy to understand and almost self-explanatory. It's like a set of multi tools in my tooth pocket. There are 2 toothpicks in the floss, one is long, pointed and very flexible, the other is detachable, short and hard, so it depends on what kind of food debris and how it gets stuck between teeth. The tiny brush is also detachable for added cleaning flexibility. The thread is in two layers, so if one breaks, the other layer will pick up the scraps and finish the job. It's like a luxury toothpick for on the go, the best after real dental floss. I love the design and the idea of these removable toothpicks and brushes. They are protected by a lid and do not fall out easily. For certain foods and some hard-to-reach places in the mouth, additional tools can be very helpful. Since they are designed for difficult brushing, I don't want to open them up and waste tools I might not need. I don't want to use them for small stuck foods. I only want to use them for heavy duty. Now I have to carry around some cheap ones and this Oral-In-One. When the cheap ones aren't enough, then I open up this floss king. Try to avoid unnecessary spending.
