Review on ๐Ÿ›น IWONDER CLOUDWHEEL Donut 105mm: Ultimate Urban Off-Road Electric Skateboard Wheels by Aaron Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A bit expensive but really helpful when driving

I use my electric skateboard to commute on what I believe to be typical city streets, which means they are anything but smooth, with uneven pavement, cracks, jagged edges, the list continues. The stock 90mm wheels on my board feel everything, and in some cases it's even dangerous, and bumps sometimes make me lose balance or yank my board hard. I see people riding around town on standard bikes all the time, but I don't know how they do it. Enter Cloudwheels. I've tried 105mm and 120mm Cloudwheels on a regular belt drive board so I was curious how they would compare. This donut set has normal cloud wheels in the front and a pair of donuts in the back (like on the sleeves). How do you feel? It's a noticeable improvement in ride quality over the stock wheels, but they're not as good as regular belt-drive Cloudwheelsโ€”they're great for commuting. drive aggressively. I notice that the range has decreased a bit, but it's also getting colder, so I can't say for sure if it's because of these wheels. I don't notice any difference in torque or speed, but then again I don't drive aggressively. On smooth surfaces (like newly paved roads) there is more noise and less vibration from the tread, but smooth roads are so rare that I never noticed it. The ride quality improvement is 5 star but I have two complaints - they are expensive as most hub plates are cheaper these wheels can cost 25-30% of the cost. on board. They also only work on a limited number of models, but this is a by-product of manufacturers not standardizing on motor bushing size/format.

Pros
  • Controlled Deformation - Reduces mileage lost caused by excessive wheel deformation during steering due to wheels that are too soft.
Cons
  • Hard to say
