I compared this to a better (but older) loupe which is 14 times (and much more expensive). The magnification of this magnifier does not exceed 14x, but it is GOOD. On the other hand, 30X is much higher than what most people can use; at 30x you should probably use a microscope. Although it doesn't look like a 30x magnification, its field of view is more than 14x; This gives me a 16mm field of view (width), while a 14X with a smaller lens only gives me a 9mm field of view. Keep in mind that since they are fixed lenses, in order to get a clear image you have to be at a certain distance from what you are seeing, so you cannot change the size of the visible area. The LED is very bright with two LEDs. However, it can be too bright. The other loupe I have has a lens diffuser over the lights that surrounds the entire lens, while on this loupe the light is behind the lens and can cast a shadow. However, it is very bright. Mechanics and body are in order considering the low acquisition costs of this magnifying glass. I don't think you could find anything better for the money, but this one will definitely have the features that most people will use. Recommended as a home magnifier for beginners or general use.
