Review on πŸ”Š Yamaha NSIC800WH 140-Watts 2-Way RMS Speaker - Premium White Audio System (2 Speakers) by Julie Gomez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I have bought ten units and am hoping to buy eight more before they sell out

The builders were laying the wires for the top two cables in our media room so I installed two of them first. I then upgraded to an Atmos 7.2.4 install, so I bought and installed four more, leaving the original pair in place. I did this to "seal up for the future" and because I was itching to take out the two originals and patch up the resulting holes in the ceiling ;-) I've found they work best when placed over drywall (not a problem for me as the space above the media room is the attic). Not only does this help reflect sound around the room, it also keeps the insulation from clogging the woofers and also allows air to circulate around the crossovers to prevent overheating. Finally, it maintains the fire rating of the ceiling. I made my boxes out of 4 1/2" pine boards and 1/2" plywood. No prices for making a cabinet! Anyway, I have six in the media room, four more ready to go to the office. I need two more for the dining room and master bedroom, four more for the upstairs games room ceiling. 18 units have already been purchased or planned. They're great for HT surround sound, easy to install and once you know how to wire your speakers in phase, hooking them up is a breeze. Screw terminals would be better, but spring terminals are good and strong. You can also use banana plugs if you like. The sound of Muzak in terms of service and HT surround sound is excellent. Audiophile stereo? Not really. But then I wouldn't compare a pair of $100-$200 in-ceiling or bookshelf speakers to $10,000 floor-standing speakers, and neither should you.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented
