I recently bought an extra long, durable USB-C charging cable for my laptop. After seeing how inflexible it was, I decided to try this connector to avoid damaging the connector. When it arrived I was a bit disappointed with its appearance - not quite as shown in the photos but I plugged it in anyway and it works. As if. Apparently my heavy duty cable is too heavy for this thing and it has been disconnected many times. Well, one day it kind of detached halfway and the outer half spun, still half connected by a single magnet. He managed to short out a few contacts and suddenly my laptop showed a blue screen, then a lock screen, then a black one. back to blue, black, reload. It's all in half a second or so. Then I found that the USB-C port that the plug was plugged into was only half working. The charging cable, USB hub and power adapters connect to the laptop through this port in only one orientation! The USB-C port on the other side of the laptop doesn't have this issue and everything still works. So if you buy this, which I really don't recommend, be sure to use a light-weight cable that won't strain the connector's magnets, lest you end up with a half-burned USB-C port or worse.
