Band tears on my first hit

I'm a kick boxer. I buy this product because it claims to be good for boxing and karate but the strap is too long for a martial arts frame. Also, the tape rips when I do my first punch. I didn't put any force into this punch because I want to try resistance. This can be helpful with slower, controlled strength training, but can be dangerous with explosive movements.
