Black plastic handle melts on first use. The probe says it's rated for 700C, but the handle melted at the probe's 450 f mostly outdoors (the probe checked the ambient temperature in a coffee roaster, the "handle" was 1 inch from the roaster). The probe and handle melted. I expected that the probe, with the specified 700Β°C rating, could withstand more than half the rated temperature and would pass through the probe body without melting. The coiled cable was also very stiff, any movement of the gauge puts stress on the probe.
