Not as cool as it sounds

I found this book and was very happy to get it and work with it. I love the creative design of the book and the flexibility of all the individual pieces to mix and match. In this way it doesn't necessarily present itself as a beginner's step-by-step guide to their first socks, but is intended for the relative beginner as I assume more experienced sock knitters will already have their own patterns for combining socks in theirs have history . Unfortunately, the descriptions are a bit confusing and don't work that well. Only a small bubble on the front gives information about the thickness (8 tpi) and little information about good starting points for different yarn sizes and different needle sizes. It also states that they designed all the patterns with dpns in mind, but apparently used circulars in the first book and then used some of the instructions from that first book in this one. For example, throw methods use loops, and then you magically need to be on dpns to follow the next step of the pattern. I knitted a rough pattern to make sure I got 8 stitches and after measuring the foot, casting on and knitting to pattern I ended up with a roomy, flexible sock that was extra loose in the heel area. I ended up switching to a different sock pattern which saved my sock. I wouldn't even give this book to a knitter I know, let alone recommend it.
