I'm no newbie to fish or home filters but I have to say I was very impressed with this filter. I am currently using a 280 gallon freshwater setup that is heavily planted. I thought I could get by with an FX6, but I wasn't convinced by the water quality. At night, the amount of suspended matter decreased significantly. The filter is almost noiseless. I especially like how you can load the filter with media. I went with a good balance between mechanical and biological environments. My advice to anyone installing one of these monsters is to measure carefully before cutting the hoses and have a supply of boiled water to fit the hoses. I've read reviews that suggest the filter is difficult to assemble or leaking. I would suggest reading the instructions as carefully as possible as they can be confusing. Get teflon tape for all parts that will be screwed in. Mine took two hours to assemble, set up and run, but it was easy to fill and didn't leak. I ordered this through Revain Prime to get guaranteed shipping which means I paid more and sales tax but it was well worth it considering the other seller I canceled my order with said that delivery date has not been agreed.
