My personal review is based on my experience of two missions and one training exercise. .In this case I volunteered to serve in Puerto Rico, high humidity and temperatures in excess of 80 degrees meant I could travel EASY, especially through the rural/mountain areas. My legs must have suffered a lot on 12-16 hour shifts. There were times when I didn't have access to a laundry and by day 5 was literally wearing a pair (aired at night), the socks just started to have a vague smell. I could switch to a new pair, but I wanted to see how well these socks would hold up in extreme conditions. Sometimes things like laundry and water aren't always available. I'm thankful I had these socks. I ordered size: large (I wear men's boots 8W / EU 41). I felt like I was walking on clouds in my boots. Appropriate support and compression in the right places. Wicks away sweat well. Keeps my feet dry on sweaty days and warm on cold evenings. During the flight it was amazing, my feet usually get numb, these socks helped regulate the temperature in the air. When I landed, no leg pain or discomfort. I literally got down to business HAHAHA ;) I received my item in less than 48 hours of ordering. The big plus for me was the price and great value to get 3 pairs. Other brands usually cost the same and you only get one pair! Overall, the quality, size and performance far exceeded my expectations. Cons: Not really a con. More of a recommendation. These socks are best hand washed and air dried. I washed them in the bath on the gentle cycle, they got a little fluffy. I expect to extend the life of these socks, just hand wash and air dry :) Conclusion: Other volunteers and first responders commented on my socks, and while others showed off their 5.11 and UA socks etc , here I am, no blisters, cool as a cucumber with my discounts on socks of unknown quality. Just goes to show that sometimes the "outsider" brand comes out on top. As a first responder, I always test new equipment in the field. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. This is because the legs are usually the first to tire during the operation. Having a good pair of boots and socks is critical not only to personal performance/wellbeing, but also to community service delivery. I had a really good experience with these socks for the first time, so I highly recommend Meriwool socks. or just someone who wants a quality pair (actually 3 pairs) at a reasonable price. UPDATE 07/09 - After moving to Weslaco, TX (Flood Response) High humidity and temperatures above 100F+, these socks paired with my SWAT boots protected my feet. No blisters, no wet feet, no sores. Thick enough to repel mosquitoes. (We were in the Zika region) Provides ample padding and wicks sweat very well for 12 hours of cleaning. The socks are a bit faded after several washes, no holes or scratches. They passed the smell test several times. I added two more photos. So far, so good. Note; Meriwool does not sponsor me and I am not incentivized to post reviews here. I share my review because not all of us can afford fashion brands, especially as I volunteer it's great to try products that work in an area where they don't. not worth an arm and a leg.
