Review on Mountainsmith Youth Scout Backpack Lotus by Maili Silcox

Our son is small for his age and he hikes a lot in nature and with his scout troop. He needed a backpack that could hold the required number of items and still be reasonably adjustable and comfortable. This backpack fits! We bought it in 2010 and he still uses it and it still fits him. Next year or next he might be a bigger size but as a little guy for his age this is the best option. We have used youth packs from REI and Kelty and this is by far the best. Pockets provide easy access to his essentials, and the straps are great for securing any items he doesn't have. to keep dry. The straps on the backpack are adjustable, which cost us a bit, but now we adjust them as we walk and I have no issues. I will buy another one if my son doesn't outgrow it before his brother needs it. The attached photos are from last summer and after 4 years of ownership by an 11 year old.
