It is practical. It works more than other brands. This is the third brand I've tried recently. The rest had to be returned due to size differences. With other brands I had to wear medium, but the large ones were small and the XL were too big. The average was just right for a 32" waist and I figured a 40" waist would be average too. The lumbar pad is good. It is soft and hard at the same time. I have a L4L5S1 herniated disc and the wrong pressure can be unbearable. It felt like the right support for me. I'm impressed and the cheap price was a plus.
