Very happy so far. Build quality seems better than most in this price range. I just needed some extra stands to keep the mic off the floor. Tripod assembly is different from normal assembly, cam lock allows the base to slide up on the shaft, easy to operate. I saw one reviewer have an issue where the cam lock was no longer tight enough to keep the mic shaft from sliding onto the floor. Let's hope this was an isolated incident as there is no way to adjust the tension of the camlock. Ultimate makes a guitar stand that uses the same type of mechanism and I've never had a problem with it, despite some pretty heavy bass. The shaft coupling has a smooth and positive engagement. The boom is easily adjustable. The boom-to-shaft mount is plastic, as are most of the hardware on this stand. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, however, as plastics have come a long, long way. I can't say it's made out of "engineering plastic" or even reinforced plastic - at this price point I'd doubt it. These tripods are a good buy - even a very good one - for those looking for a lightweight tripod with good adjustment. Is the way worth it? no But they are quite suitable for recordings, small concerts and the like. Ironically, the studio I played in has a bunch of expensive stays from a major European concern that can no longer prevent the stock SM58-tipped boom from slowly lowering despite the cocking knob being turned all the way out. ...and their fasteners are metal, not plastic, so that argument might not be as convincing as it sounds.
