It is no more convenient than ironing cotton shirts/pants. It takes a while to steam them, so you CAN just put them on an ironing board and iron with a hot iron + steam until crisp. It's better to spend 2 more minutes and get a clean shirt than to "freshen" them. However, it can also serve other purposes. I tried it on a polyester jacket that creases very easily and it smoothed out the creases! I think it's more convenient for a jacket than a shirt because a jacket is much more difficult to iron than a light cotton shirt. So I will definitely use this for my jackets. Haven't tried it on a wool jacket or suit yet, I'll get back to you later. Also tried on a silk tie and it worked well. I read somewhere that ties should not be ironed because the iron squeezes the corners of the ties and the threads can break? I think it would be helpful. I then tried it on an old merino wool sweater that I almost wanted to throw away because of the holes, but I think it served as a good guinea pig. I got it out of the closet after not wearing it for 3-4 years. The lint nozzle + steam "refreshed" it quite well, it smelled a little less like it had been sitting in a closet for 4 years after I was done with it. Just a word of caution, with light wool which can stretch when wet DO NOT pull too hard as I steamed about halfway through the sweater keeping the underside lightly then I got to a section , which I pulled a little. heavier, and it stretched and puckered in the area I pulled, so be careful with light wool items. Other uses might include ironing curtains and awkwardly shaped items (like a dress, but I don't wear dresses). ) or items that are uncomfortable to place on the ironing board (pillows?) Summary: - for work shirts/trousers - use an iron, it's probably faster and will make your clothes smoother than a steam iron - it's good for removing folds proven. from jackets that are awkward to maneuver on an ironing board - works well on silk and polyester ties - it might be a good idea to wear gloves because if you get too close your hand will steam
