I have been using a watercolor sketchbook for a long time and what made me not try watercolor paper was that it was too expensive for me was invest. I paint a lot with watercolors, and buying a pad of watercolor paper (which usually consists of a few sheets) becomes very expensive over time. As I happened to walk into an art store, I noticed these loose sheets and read some reviews about them. I was sold immediately. I really like the size of the paper. I tend to draw a little big, not super big but big enough to fit on the page. I usually draw around this size so the paper was perfect for me. I also like the fine paper structure. One side has some teeth and the other still has some texture but is a bit smoother. It's nice to have a choice of which side you prefer. I've never used actual watercolor paper (sad I know) so I was a little scared of how it would affect my skills as watercolor paper is different from other paper I have. used but luckily it was very easy to set up. I don't paint backgrounds, so I prefer to fill the background with a solid color and it doesn't distort any of the art (again, I taped the sides to prevent this, but it still made an impression). I also apply many colors over and over again and the paper doesn't tear. All in all a great purchase. if it's serious $15 for a ream of 50 quality sheets of watercolor paper, couldn't be better. I definitely recommend trying it.
