Doesn't recognize the "Increase Brightness" command in the OS control panel, but the 3rd party brightness slider menu works reasonably (increases the brightness of my Tbolt screen to full potential). It's a lot dimmer than my new Apple TBolt display, and I haven't compared it to a direct connection to an old laptop to see if it's display related or this connector related. I used expert calibration to add some contrast. Strangely works when using the calibration tool. But I am very happy that I can use my old AppleLED as a second display!
