Cheap Chinese junk: Dehumidifier

This review was not easy to write. After building a collection of non-working dehumidifiers, I chose this Honeywell based on its name, reputation for quality, claimed durability, and warranty. The only thing I can honestly say that exceeds my expectations is their return policy and guarantee. I bought the first one 2 weeks ago. Collected and started normally. I used the pump function so I didn't have to empty the bucket every day. The dehumidifier ran until the bucket was full (the bucket should NOT be full), then shut off and showed an "E 5" error code, which isn't listed anywhere in the literature or on their website. Turns out it's a pump failure. Find out. I played around with this for 2 days and couldn't get it to work other than filling the bucket once or twice and then shutting it down. So I contacted them through Revain and to their great credit they immediately sent me a new one and sent me permission to send the old one back. I received the new one the same day I mailed the old one. I went through the installation procedure and started a new one. A day later the same error, same error code. I'm completely stumped as I thought Honeywell made quality products. This is not my first dehumidifier, I have 4 of these, all non-functional, sitting in the basement as I write. I have a Friedrich and a Soleus that both started leaking refrigerant but both ran for about a year before they were drained. Freidrich told me "hard" even though they have a 5 year guarantee and Soleus will send me a refund. I also have Westinghouse, which lasted about 12 years before the pan rusted, and Frigidaire, which lasted over 25 years before giving up. I think I have every right to expect such a device, especially one with the Honeywell name. a good 10 years later. Am I expecting too much?
