Best Value Fanless Mini PC

Incredible little thing for so much money. Definitely the best value for money fanless mini PC. UPDATED: - Fanless (it runs silently - no feedback in the sound, etc.) - Works great --> It's amazing. I purposely loaded FFXIV into this thing that I know it can't run just to tax it. Guess what? It got a little warm. As you could touch, it was warmer than in the room. When I picked it up from the table, there was no hot table underneath. The really fun part is that everything is rejected. although it's actually still unplayable. This little tank actually ran showing off the FFXIV. I even prepared some just in case. HA!- Surprisingly fast on Windows 8.1 32-bit. --> Despite the 64-bit quad-core processor, I see the benefits of using the 32-bit version. Smooth as butter. Linux Mint works like a race car. ** UPDATE: This needs to be emphasized. LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION! The power went out recently. I have an impressive backup battery. Works laptop, PC and server with a pair of LED floor and table lamps, etc. for 2.45 hours. Strip everything down to a desk lamp, monitor, router and this device - available for 29 HOURS. lol nice. Ideal solution for internet/news and entertainment during a power outage. What I've used it for and what it excels at: - streaming media server with PlayOn software (connect a USB or network drive with your content to it. Done. Not to mention the SD card slot)) - via other computers and our Roku play flawlessly and the device does not get hot. That's a lot of transcoding. No problem. It can easily stream one person from one computer and another from Roku. However, you start adding number 3 and 4. You will experience some stuttering and interruptions in the stream. I can't say anything else about many other mini systems, though. - OpenSim region server (at the same time mind you) - works great. With only 2GB of RAM it's a little limited by region size, number of people etc before resources are hit, but still - just wow. - Linux Steam Box - Linux version of Steam by Valve. I'm amazed at how many games on Steam for Linux will actually run on this thing. Not to mention looking good doing it. Yes you won't be running games on a big engine but wow. Good. There's an extremely long list of things I've put this poor little block through the meat grinder with and it comes out on top every time. No matter what I threw at him, despite the fact that he had actually managed to penetrate him, even though technically he just shouldn't have choked to anything. I'm looking forward to the Version 2 or "Level 2" model of this device. If you could build something like a simple gaming device for twice the price? They would kill in the market. Not everyone wants or needs Ultra mode settings in every game they play. They make a nice little division for the average Joe and I think people's heads will explode. Just like this little guy for streaming media/desktop users. IT'S WORTH IT ALL!

Pros
  • Enjoy all the benefits of Windows in a much thinner package. Quantum Byte comes preinstalled with Windows 10 and includes new features such as Windows Live Tiles, city interface and access to the Windows Store.
Cons
  • It was possible to choose a newer model
