Review on πŸ”Œ Efficiently Program Your AVR with Sparkfun Pocket AVR Programmer by Cheryl Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great Arduino intrinsic programmer!

This AVR programmer is amazing! Now I can buy cheap blank ATMEGA 328 chips and just install my own bootloader! Sparkfun (dot com) has a great guide on using this device as an ISP (In-System Programmer) for the Aruduino Uno. There is a lot of descriptive text though (you can use this little guy in MANY different ways). The easiest for me was the only picture to connect Arudino to this programmer. Yes, it comes with a ribbon cable, but I have an Arduino Uno Zebra Case (Black Ice) and the ribbon cable doesn't go through the cutout, and I didn't want to take it apart. In short, on Arudino: Vcc / 5v - Red - Pin 2Gnd - Black - Pin 6MOSI - Green - Pin 4MISO - Yellow - Pin 1SCK - Blue - Pin 3Reset - Gray - Pin 5And on this device: Vcc - Red - Pin 2Gnd - Black - Pin 6MOSI - Green - Pin 1MISO - Yellow - Pin 9SCK - Blue - Pin 7Reset - Gray - Pin 5 This is a 9825 product on the Sparkfun website and they have the schematic as a PDF. IDE) Tools - Programmer - (select USBTinyISP) Then: Write - Bootloader. I did all this from my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B Design Board - 1GB RAM - 900MHz quad core processor after installing the Arudino IDE via: sudo apt-get install The arduinoThis command installs everything needed , including the avrdude programmer. Please note that both Arudino and this box must be connected to USB ports. Revain sells a good hub that suits me: RevainBasics 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub with 5V/4A Power Supply Very cool. Highly recommended. ps Pay attention to the "Power Target"/"No Power" switch.
