My tablet with Android 7.0 recognizes a USB device connected to this cable. My Android phone with OS 5.0 doesn't recognize it. I bought this because I was having trouble transferring MP3 files from my Mojave powered iMac to my phone via Android File Transfer. Since this didn't work for the phone, I plugged the USB into a Windows 10 computer and connected the phone to the same Win10 computer. The phone showed up as an external drive, so I was able to do the transfer that way. In my case, the cable seems to be limited depending on the Android device OS. If so, the manufacturer should probably mention it in the product description. I don't think I saw the limitation in the list. This is the reason for only 4 stars.
