After reading a bit about the filter material it turned out to be a longer lasting and more efficient filter compared to store bought filters. I prefer HEPA filters to catch those nasty tiny particles you can't see, including asbestos. Although this filter isn't HEPA certified, the specs indicate that it works too. I'm renovating an old house, so filtering out unpleasant particles is particularly important to me. While it's difficult to vouch for something you can't see anyway, after a lot of use I found it better. The stock filters seem to fray around the edges after just a few cleanings, which lowers my confidence in them, especially for fine particles. This item has not yet shown signs of wear after a year of heavy use. I had a hard time figuring out what size I needed. I have a 5.5hp 5 gallon model. (professional class), which I highly recommend by the way. This particular filter fits just right. Pros: Inexpensive filter, near HEPA filtration performance, durable Cons, hard to determine what size you need.
