The 14 inch gooseneck worked well in my 04 Sport Trac. Position the suction end in the center of the underside of the windshield, with the magnetic end protruding about 2-3 inches in front of the dash, just above the center vents. Gathers enough air to keep your phone cool during the summer heat without blocking normal airflow for passengers. Because I like my phone mounted high enough to be able to see it while driving with minimal fuss, it's important to me to avoid overheating in direct sunlight while charging. The small support element in the packaging acts as a pivot point between the phone and the windshield, providing a secure and stable grip on bumpy roads. Since it attaches to the glass, I modified the suction cup by removing all of the adhesive prior to installation. The adhesive is between the inside and outside protruding edges of the suction cup. I trimmed the outer lip with scissors and removed the inner lip with a razor blade until the entire pad was flat. I soaked the pad in water before attaching it for a surprisingly strong hold. The best part is there is nothing standing in the way of the mount being removed and if I need to remove it it removes cleanly and is easy to reinstall.
