When I ordered these sweaters I wasn't sure if they would be very thick but I was very pleased when I took them out of the box and saw how soft and thick they were really are are . we. Red is much more elastic and seems thicker, but part of it is a cable knit. the gray is not as stretchy and is a bit more form-fitting. I originally wanted red for a 30lb black and white dog and gray for a light dog, but once I put them on I realized they needed to be swapped out. The blond dog weighs about 34 pounds and the red fits a lot better. Gray has small short sleeves. The sizes I ordered are XL, they were the largest so basically not suitable for a large dog. A red sweater might fit a dog up to 40 pounds, but I doubt a gray one would. but they are very good and well made. Note, however, that they are not designed for a larger dog.
