Review on πŸ“¦ Summitlink Black Case with Fan for ADS-B Raspberry Pi Stratux DIY Kit: Matte Finish, Tool-Free Assembly (Excludes AHRS Compatibility) by Victor Ewing

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Well-designed, sturdy case

I bought this to replace the more versatile Raspberry Pi case. The main benefit for me is that the antennas are built into the case, so it's an all-in-one Stratux box rather than a flexible set of parts and cables. The case is well designed, with perfectly sized holes for the antenna connectors. and hex bolt retainers to prevent twisting of the connectors. There wasn't enough room to use the Vilros SDRs I had so I replaced them with the smaller NooElec Nano 2. The Raspberry Pi board snaps in and fits very well and the case assembly is tool-free as advertised. Disassembly without tools won't work, and I had to use a flathead screwdriver to separate the case halves. I also needed a wrench to tighten the antenna connectors, but that's not the case. The fan seems overkill and if it dies a quick death I won't be surprised or upset. Although it would probably be nice to have one if summer ever comes. At this point, I've just assembled a Stratux body and bits. I will update the review if anything changes.
