I actually bought this to solve a problem with my dishwasher. Our very sharp knives cut through the plastic cutlery basket as we placed them sharp end down. I cut this mesh to fit each of the bottom pockets of the basket. The holes are wide enough to let water through, but the blades stay in place and don't cut into the plastic. Because it is a high-temperature fabric, it withstands hot wash cycles very well. We don't use the heated dryer option in the machine but I'm sure that would be great. I have plenty left of this role - I'm sure I'll find more use for it!
