In medical school we often use an iPad, but I usually use an Android tablet with an active stylus. So I gave up on that. I just didn't need it. However, someone else in my house has recently been using my iPad and handwriting a lot. There's also a Galaxy S5 in the house, which is often used for things that pretty much require a stylus (Samsung doesn't use an active S Pen on Galaxy phones). So I had to get something. I originally intended to buy a good expensive pen that is very accurate and could potentially be used as a lightsaber or pen (can't remember which). Anyway, I've noticed how often people lose pens that don't attach to tablets via a built-in mount like mine. Also, many wear out. Again, I've gone with a cheaper pen from CVS or Brookstone and found they work well, although easy to lose. Long story short my wife wanted one for her phone too so I bought this set of 10 pens. Not only was the whole pack cheaper than the 2 packs I bought in the store, they look and work the same. And then there's the variety of colors that others in my family are happy with. So my overall impression is that while they don't win accolades for accuracy or sensitivity like active styluses (which Apple consistently denies for their "non-educational and non-functional" product, which of course works like both), the price cannot be beat. And you won't beat yourself up if you lose one or nine.
