It worked exactly as advertised. Mom gave birth and the babies could hide where she couldn't reach them. I think the only problem for me was that I wanted to put the youngsters in a hanging net to mature as I have other pregnant fish. The slots on the sides of the hatchery (for the water intake) were also places for water to drain if I tried to lift the hatchery to move the hatchlings. I had to cover the side with my hand to keep the water from spilling out and then take the little ones to their new homes with a hanging net. minor problem. My 90+ Black Molly babies are glad Mom didn't eat them.
