Review on πŸ”§ 94475 WEN Reversible Grinding Carrying by Pavel Craig

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This meat grinder is a pleasant surprise!

When I retired a few years ago I got rid of many of the expensive professional power tools that I bought while I was working. Wanting to try power carving first, I bought an inexpensive brand name grinder along with an Arbortech ball bit (see Revain ASIN B0752TXPKD). Then I decided on a Power Carving Disc (see ASIN B07KFJ31G6 Revain). Not wanting to bother installing and removing these two attachments from the same grinder, I purchased this WEN grinder. For under $25 my expectations were pretty low. Surprise surprise! This WEN 7 amp coffee grinder is made in China, is a good weight, slim, comfortable, well balanced and appears to be very well made. The body is made from lightly textured, beautifully formed, durable plastic, similar to most power tool bodies, with no mold burr. The head is most likely made of cast aluminum or something similar. It's packed very compactly in a sturdy box with an IB, a spare brush set and a good-sized wrench. There is no cosmoline film or the unpleasant smell of anti-corrosion industrial chemicals that usually accompanies low-quality imported power tools. Hallelujah! Arbor flanges are well machined and polished and free of cutting fluid, burrs or chips. The power cord is flimsy and wrapped in vinyl plastic, but it's more than adequate. The molded fork is strong enough for regular use. WARNING: The only comment I have is that the ON/OFF LOCK switch is on the left side of the grinder, it's a bit small and not very thick, but not fragile either. It should be noted that moving the power switch forward to the ON position will lock it in that position. You then have to intentionally push down on the back of the switch to unlock it. Therefore, you need to be careful and extra careful when connecting the tool for the first time, as well as when stopping it. Since he is left-handed and the assist grip is also on the left side, this power button is difficult to reach quickly. It might be easier for right-handed people to reach. This is where the more expensive top-mounted paddle or spring-loaded switch gives the user the dead man's or panic advantage. I'll probably use it in conjunction with my saw's footswitch so I can respond more quickly when needed. But this grinder costs less than $25, and with that in mind, I've decided not to deduct a star. We make our choice and pay money. Just be extra careful. The speed of 11,000 rpm is admirable and the vibrations are minimal. The noise level is also much lower than I expected. There's no harsh-sounding growl and worm gear rattle that plagues many low-end power tools. The side handle is larger than some inexpensive angle grinders and offers a good, secure grip and feel in the hand. The stock lock knob seems pretty solid too. The detachable guard is designed so that even when tightened very tightly, you can easily adjust its position with enough hand pressure. This is a nice feature, especially for power carving. Considering the price and the design, this angle grinder is a very good deal. Thank you Rewin!
