I was replacing the stock handlebars on my 2016 Ultra Limited. I found online that the cables would work backwards and I didn't want to change the clutch/front brake lines. The installation wasn't bad to do with basic hand tools and some wrench connections, this youtube video - the install was on a 2014 strret glide without heated grips but helps to see the process it took about 30 minutes to do the fairing and breaking the bars, and probably an hour to strip the wiring and fish out new bars.I used a small stinger with a 1/2" nut threaded through the bottom hole in the center of the bars to get through to reach the rods. I tied a piece of paracord and pulled it back. Pay attention to the length of the wires when you attach them to the cord fasten and they will all be fine. Use the soap when you start pulling to get the connectors in the beginning around the 90's. 2016 and newer bikes do not require removing the pins from the connectors, but older models do. I reinstalled the controls and heated grips, then landed the handlebars back on the bike. The only thing I couldn't get back was the radio control connections so I stopped til the next morning when the HD dealer opened up and they have a $30 10" extension kit that makes up for the distance. I think there are some on Amazon too. I will attach a picture of the connectors that need extensions. Easy peasy. The only thing that differs a bit is that the throttle is now a bit sticky on the new bars, almost like a lock through a door. I tried silicone grease and it didn't seem to help at all. So there is still this small issue to solve, but other than that the bars ran smoothly. But for $250 I have a more comfortable bike that's a lot more fun.
